I'm not a superstitious person, so I'll ask y'all to pray along with me today. I just had a great talk with our social worker (Mallory) at our agency (Lifeline) and asked her if she would ask our Chinese facilitator (Lilly) to call the orphanage and request that they give Ashlyn our pictures and letter. I don't really care about the gifts. I just want for her to start getting used to us. Right now we are just a figment of her imagination. If she could read our letter and see our faces, she would start to get to know us a bit. That way when the day comes for them to bring her to us, it won't be so shocking for her. Mallory said she would definitely ask. Even if Lilly asks, there is a chance they will say "no". They may even say "yes", but then not do it. As I said before, the families of older adopted children from Ashlyn's orphanage told me that their kids did not get their care packages until the day they met their child. In Most cases they do this to protect the child. It's understandable to a degree. But we are a sure thing!
We are reading a great book called, "Adoption Parenting". Have you read it? I highly recommend it to ANY adoptive or pre-adoptive family. It's a great resource.
BTW, I got a $10.00 off coupon in the mail today for Build-A-Bear Workshop:) Funny timing, huh? I guess that confirms my idea!
I am so anxious to get past the home study! 1 & 1/2 books and 10 hrs of online training to go...

It's a good book - there are several worth a read - but I'm woefully lacking in my understanding of parenting an 'older adopted' child. Our 'oldest' was adopted on his second birthday - and while that's 'older' - it's by no means 'older'...and while that looks incredibly 'stupid' in type - you get it!!
