Fundraising Update:

Garage sale earnings thus far.... (Drum roll please)... A whopping $2600.00!!!! And more to come on the second weekend in December. We hope this will be the last sale. My back won't take much more. Seriously. I have been in enormous pain. I fractured my tail bone in high school and after 4 pregnancies, my back has taken a beating. Moving all the heavy tables and boxes in and out of the garage 8 times has left my lower back in a bad state. Not to mention we have a very chubby little toddler who I lug around all over the place...

Thanks to a generous family, we are down 2 prints (Basket of Flowers & Crooked Stream) and we have raised $50.00 so far! Thank you Phil , Ruth, & family in San Diego!!! Phil and his wife Ruth adopted little Li Zhou back in 2009 (?). Her American name is Meilani and she is a very special little friend of Ashlyn's. She was born with a deformity in her arm and was put on the "special needs" list like so many others because of it. Phil and Ruth were waiting for a healthy baby when they were introduced to little Li Zhou. They decided to skip the LOOOONG wait for a "healthy baby". They saw that sweet face and fell in love. From the pictures they send us, her arm doesn't seem to hold her back from loving life. She is precious and we are so excited to reintroduce her to Ashlyn one day. I met this family on the yahoo group for Ashlyn's orphanage. When I joined and introduced myself to the small
group, Phil sent me some pictures he had of the group of kids in the orphanage and told me to check to see if Ashlyn was in any of them. I said, "Yes, she is! She is the one holding the little baby!" He said, "That baby is our daughter!" AMAZING!

  4. I wanted to let you know that Sonya had made a bunch of paper bracelets to sell for her sister, and we've simply run out of time to do it. Then Sonya said, "Hey mom, I have an idea, what about that little girl I'm helping on the internet. Does her family still have a long way to go to get the money? " and I said, "I think so, Sonya." And she said, "Mom, when i sell those bracelets I'd like to give them the money for their little girl!" Just thought you'd want to know that from one ex-orphan to another soon to be ex-orphan, Sonya is offering her help!
