The First Day of School???

I guess you could call it that.

just started ordering curriculum today because we have been waiting on $$$. Hopefully it will all get here by the first week of September because we plan on diving in full-force after Labor Day.

We went to Ik*a and Office Dep*t  yesterday to purchase a few necessities... Like a laptop for Alex, school supplies for all, and Alex's desk (that we put in Matt's home office).

Good ol' Daddy, hardworking as always

In case you were wondering, the desk is called "Expedit" and it's super cheap and super durable. We are thrilled with it.

Ta-Da! High class homeschooling! He looks so professional, doesn't he? :)

The other 2 official homeschoolers worked on their "Honeybee Unit Study", which we are using for Science. I downloaded a bunch of really great worksheets and they watched the Nova "Into the Hive" series and also "The Magic Schoolbus, Inside the Hive". I worked on 800, 864, suppliment 3, and ds230 forms ALL MORNING long, so that I could rush them to the post office along with our signed LOA's!!! Oh, please pray they make it there safe and sound to Lifeline ASAP!!!

So, while I made lunch, Ansley and Aidan got resourceful with the boxes from Alex's desk and made a really great craft to go along with their bee pictures. They were so proud... And so was I!

On the front: bee anatomy

On the back: Surprise! A homemade honeycomb from the inside of a box!

Since we are still waiting on more $$$ to finish our homeschool room, we will use the dining room in the meantime, which I actually really love because it is across the foyer from Matt & Alex.

Eager pupils... Ha!

"If I knew where you lived, I'd send you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils." A quote from my favorite movie!

Happy Homeschooling to all of you homey bloggers out there!

Blessings,

  2. Love it Rebecca. If there's anything I've learned so far, it's that the kids do not need bells and whistles to learn :) We use our dining room for school. Of course I'm far from a seasoned homescool momma, and I only have 2, but it works for us! Best wishes for a great year.
