In June I just "happened" upon Reece's Rainbow (for about the 100th time) and I clicked on a link I have never noticed before called, "newly added children". Immediately I saw this sweet face:
I am not in any way exagerating when I tell you that I knew right then and there that she was ours. The Lord spoke to me in that soft, gentle way that I am getting so used to hearing these days. He simply said, "This one".
I said to Matt, "Look at this sweet thing! She even has a February birthday!" (All 4 of our girls have Feb birthdays). He said, "She's cute". And that was the end of that discussion:)
It's all such a blur, but pretty much the very next day the wheels started turning in my head and it all just made perfect sense. We had just received our LID (dossier log-in date). I remembered reading about someone else who had added a second adoption at LID. So I called Mallory (our SW) and told her what I had been thinking about and asked her if she thought I had completely lost my mind. She laughed and said, "No, I'm not surprised. You've talked about adopting again in the future and a DS child... I don't think you're crazy. As a matter of fact, if you're going to do it, now would be the perfect time."
So here we are. PA came last week while we were in Canada. We meet with our local SW tomorrow. She doesn't think we're crazy either for some reason. How is that?!
I'm not ready to dive into my feelings about bringing home 2 SN children. I just can't go there mentally yet. I know it's going to be the biggest challenge we've EVER faced. Only the Lord knows. We are doing a lot of praying and preparing as best as we can.
Abby is 4 years old now. This picture is old. I will update as soon as we get one.
*Update:
(10-21-12) We have been blessed with some great info on miss Abby Joy. Her orphanage sent us back some very helpful information on her personality and recent pictures. We also received a ton of great pictures from a family I met on the Yahoo group for families who've adopted from Abby's orphanage. They adopted Abby's foster sister and have actually been praying for Abby to find a family! Their daughter had been asking them to adopt her:) Ironically they are coming to Florida in February, so our girls will be reunited! God is so good!
Abby is the second to the left. Her foster sister is on her right.
I can not wait to kiss those sweet cheeks!!!
Isn't she a doll?
Too cute!
Blessings,
Rebecca
