"end of the season party"... We sure do love watching our A-dog play ball!
Sweet Sisters
Alex (middle) and two of his best buds... Aidan loves it when they come to watch him play ball. They rode all the way from home this particular day... Oh the joys of early freedoms:)
We were blessed with an entire upsatirs of free carpet! Kids and Matt did the demo and had a blast (not really)... Now just trying to figure out what to do with the downstairs flooring...
This was such a funny moment. Ansley climbed into the trash bag and Ashlyn went, "Ewww." These girls crack me up!
Waiting for daddy as he showed a house last week:)
More waiting and pasing the time by taking goofy pictures...
and more waiting...
I came out to the kitchen yesterday morning and found my 7-year-old making scrambled eggs... BY HIMSELF! I am not liking this growing up stuff one bit! He actually did an amazing job.
"Lydia"... What do you think? Twins?
My sanity:)
We have alot on our plates, but things are going really well. We have peace in our home (for the most part) and all of our kids are adjusting amazingly well. We just had our 6-month post placement report... I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I am so glad those first few months are past us. The new has worn off and I feel like we can all breath a sigh of relief... We did it. The girls are finally here after such a LONG wait and worring about the what-if's. Ashlyn's English is amazing. We can actually have some real conversation now. Yesterday she told me all about her daily schedule in China, about school and her 5 friends there. She told me the rest of the girls were mean to her and told her they didn't like her because she didn't have a mom or dad. Makes my heart ache so badly... She is such a precious child. I can't imagine how anyone could find something to dislike about her.
Summer is here and we are only half-way through our curriculum in many subjects. I knew ahead of time that this would be the case and even tried preparing myself for it, but I have to admit I do not like the feeling of being behind. Tomorrow I will spend the day trying to figure out a way to condense their assignments. Fun times. Try not to be jealous;)
Have a blessed week!
Love,
Rebecca
Thanks so much for commenting on our adoption blog, MinLan Matters! You have a beautiful family! Are you guys from Alabama? (I noticed something on your blog about Birmingham. We live in Jacksonville, AL about an hour and a half away. We come to Birmingham once a week for therapy for our youngest at The Bell Center.)
ReplyDeleteSo excited to follow along in your journey together!
This is so extremely cool - I'm loving the plan coming together!
ReplyDeletehugs - aus and co.
You are so amazingly, wonderfully busy there :) What great things happening there!! Blessings, Jennifer
ReplyDeleteP.S....I've read in many different sources the expectation is only finishing 75% of a curriculum. If you go by that, you aren't "only 50% done"...you are "only 25% away from being done"!!! :)
I would guess that they could be twins. It happens. Would the other family be open to DNA testing to see? If they aren't at least you did check. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteI have heard that when twins are given up, the parents will often leave them in separate places thinking that they will have a better chance of getting adopted as a single child. Thinking two kids would be a greater burden. Those girls do look an awful lot alike. It could also be because they are from similar areas. Kids in Tallis' orphanage had very distinct features making many of them resemble each other. But the close birth dates makes it A LOT in common doesn't it?
I know someone who believes their child was a twin, but the other family did not want to pursue any contact or testing.
Your home school sounds a lot like our home school this year! We did better than I thought with two new kids coming home, but still behind. I know what you're feelin. :)
