Lord, I'm Amazed...

There is a song that I learned at a women's retreat years ago called "Lord, I'm Amazed". It touched me so deeply because it is so intimate. God's love for us is so intimate and so close. I grew up in the church, but I always just viewed God as some distant boss in the heavens who was looking down on me in judgement. I knew intellectually that He "loved" me, but it wasn't until I truly surrendured my life to Him that I was able to see how loving and near to me He truly is. Ever since my kids were babies I've sung to them at bedtime. I am not a great singer, but I can carry a tune. They've never complained, I'll just say that:) When I learned this song, I came home and started singing it to Alex at bedtime. It's been a long time since I sang it and 3 more kids since then, but as soon as I started praying for Ashlyn (At our Christmas Eve service at church) this was the song that came to mind. I envisioned her asleep in her little bed with the presence of the Holy Spirit hovering above her, singing songs of love, comfort, hope, & healing over her. I still envision this daily when I pray for her. I can't physically pray over her at night like I do with my other children, but through the power of the Holy Spirit, I can still pray over her. I know that He is faithful and He hears my prayers for this father-less child. We still have a long way to go until she is home, but I know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28) As much as I want her here now, I am hoping that He will use this time to prepare us for each other. He loves us so much. He dances & sings over us. Open your eyes. Look out your window. It's a beautiful day. Breathe the air into your lungs and know that He is near and He is good and He is the giver & sustainer of life and He sings over us. We are His children. It's miraculous!
