We shipped the care package on the 9th and I received word last week that it made it to Lily, the facilitator in China. She then has to translate the letter and ship it on to the orphanage. I'm not sure how long that takes because we are not the only family she's doing this for. I am hoping that Ashlyn gets it very soon. I almost can't stand not being there to see her open it. What will the look on her face be? I imagine a little bit of excitement wrapped up in a lot of uncertainty. Will she be happy? Will she be excited? Will she like us? Or will she be like a few I've heard of where the family gets over there and the child decides they do not want to be adopted? That can happen. Our social worker warned us of this again on Friday.
I was just praying for her friends today when I got an email from a family I've mentioned here before who was wondering if the girl is available for adoption. My answer to him was, "I have no idea, but maybe we can find out." So I sent an email to Mary, the gal who was at Ashlyn's orphanage with her daughter this summer; the one who took all of the pictures. She had mentioned that she might be able to find out some more info on the older kids. I can't even imagine how amazing that would be if Ashlyn knew her friend was getting a family too.
